Chasing Discs

11/5/11 - Ultimate Frisbee Game

… stalling seven, (panic), stalling eight, (panic), stalling nine, (panic)…Yea this totally happened tonight, but I got rid of it, and avoided turning on our endzone line.  

Tonight was the first game of B-pool playoffs.  Boom squared off against Huckin’ Easy.  We got off to a rough start going down 5 to 1.  We weren’t having a lot of cutter movement, and they were playing strong dump defense.  I remember at one point I had a stall nine huck to no one, I just didn’t want to turn by the end zone.  

Finally we called a dominatrix offense: me, fuj, and heather handled, the boys all cut, and stayed out our way.  We totally rocked it.  The three of us moved it all the way up the field.  Even though the girls guarding us knew what was happening they couldn’t stop it.  We scored on that point then went on a run scoring 4 more points before Huckin’ Easy took half 8 to 5.  

The second half we traded points mostly, and couldn’t overcome our deficit.  We ended up losing the game 15 to 10.  

Overall I was really happy with how I played.  I had some great grabs today, an up the line that I barely pulled in, and a swilly swing that I went up for and pulled down with my left hand.  In warm-ups we were running end-zone and on the last score I caught the disc that was out of bounds, but managed to stay balanced on my left foot, clearly gained possession and then let my right foot plant out of bounds.  That was all yoga!
