3/20/13 - East Side SC Class
I was exhausted all day yesterday from the sled pulls and could still feel it this morning, but I got my butt in the gym because I leave for Boston tonight.
Cleans
- 5 x 20 kilos
- 5 x 25 kilos
- 3 x 30 kilos
- 2 x 32 kilos
4 sets of (1x32kilo, 1x34kilo, 1x36kilo)
This was a cool progression. You cleaned, added weight, cleaned, added more weight, then dropped back down for the next set. 36 kilos is my clean PR so far! It was exhausting. On the last two sets after getting the weight up I just wanted to sit back down. Oh sled drags. You are still killing me today.
WOD - 6 rounds
- 12 KBS - 16 kilos
- 2 Ring Rows
- 12 situps
Time: 6:52
This was all about transition time. I had too much space between all my stuff or I could have done it faster. It was good though. A nice way to round out the week! I came in 3rd in the class.
3/19/13 - East Side SC Class
we started out with some medicine ball throws to warm up, then got down to bench press.
Bench Press
- 5 x 20 kilos
- 5 x 30 kilos
- 3 x 35 kilos
3 sets 5 reps 39 kilos
This felt kind of easy. Can’t wait to get big plates next time!
WOD - 3 sets
- 400m sled pull - 40 kilos
- 200 m run
There was a bit of a break in between each set since we had one less sled than people. I actually did 3 sets where most people did 2. I felt like a huge bad ass pulling the sled. I cursed at pinecones a lot though. Running over those really slowed you down.
3/18/13 - East Side SC Class
Overhead Press
- 5 x 20kilos
- 3 x 24 kilos
- 3 x 26 kilos
3 sets 5 reps 28 kilos.
This felt pretty easy. Not sure why. I expected to struggle after adding a kilo since last time, but I powered through these easily.
Squat
- 5 x 20 kilos
- 5 x 35 kilos
- 3 x 45 kilos
3 sets 5 reps 51 kilos
These felt really hard. I was just tired I think from frisbee the day before. I was up a kilo since last time though. I really need to work on getting my knees out wide, and keeping my chin down. I was happy to get it done though
WOD - x = 10,8,6,4,2
- x Ring Rows
- x Hip Extensions
Just some quick work at the end.

3/17/13 - Ultimate Frisbee Game
Today’s game was challenging. We were playing the very experienced team Toolbox. They are a great group that practices and has really bonded well. Also all of them are exceptionally fast. Yay!
The weather was nasty. It went from sunny pre game time to cloudy, rainy, and windy just before the first pull. We ended up losing 15 to 5(?) but the game felt closer than that.
I even bid really hard for a disc in the endzone but it came in so low and fast that it bounced out of my hands as I tried to hang on to it. We had a lot of misfires, we’d get it near the end zone, then just have a slightly off put or an unfortunate miss.
I still had fun, One point I was guarding girl Colin, who is really fast, and I kept her from getting the disc as a middle cutter. I was really proud of myself. Toolbox still scored that point, but I took her out of the play which was awesome!
Its always a bit of a bummer to lose by a lot, but Toolbox is a really good team. They could probably compete in A pool if they wanted. I was happy with my play and had a good time anyway!
3/16/13 - Vinyasa Yoga
I headed out to yoga on a rain saturday morning. It was another great class. Somehow the breathing, and having my face on the mat, has the ability to completely change my perspective. I stop the negative thoughts, I can calm myself down. I always leave feeling hopeful and more optimistic. Its quite wonderful, especially after the trying week I had. I should try to make it during the week more often.

3/15/13 - East Side SC Class Lift
I just stayed for the lift this morning. The music was atrocious some screamy death metal, so I popped in my own headphones and rocked out to macklemore.
Deadlift
- 5 x 40 kilos
- 5 x 50 kilos
- 3 x 60 kilos
- 3 x 70 kilos
- 5 x 78 kilos
- 1 x 80 kilos
- 1 x 85 kilos
We were supposed to do a heavy set of 5, but after my set I wanted to do some single heavy reps. Felt good. I think i’ll need to contest my 1RM PR soon. Chasing 100kilos!

3/14/13 - East Side SC Class
Bench Press
- 5 x 20 kilos
- 5 x 30 kilos
- 3 x 35 kilos
3 sets 5 reps 38 kilos
Benching today was surprisingly easy. Last week I did 37kilos and remember that feeling hard. Today I knocked out sets with 38kilos and it felt super easy!
WOD AMRAP 18:00
- 3 ring rows
- 4 push ups
- 7 WBS - 10lb ball
- 160m row
I got through 7 rounds + 3 ring rows + 4 Pushups. My arms were so tired by the end of this. This was definitely hard.
3/9/13 - Vinyasa Yoga
Today I got to go back to a favorite tradition. Saturday morning yoga at Be Luminous. I’d been missing out on this class all winter because I had frisbee games, but now that Spring League has started and games are on Sunday!
This class was awesome. The flows felt good, and my balances were good. Even being a bit out of practice, I fearlessly dove from Warrior 2 into Half Moon, and I stuck it. My transition back into Warrior 2 was some of the best in memory.
We also did Eagle and Dancer balances. My right leg is definitely a lot more stable than my left. But that will come back.
The Om at the beginning and end of class was awesome. The Sunday class didn’t Om, and it kind of felt like something was missing. This was pretty perfect.

3/7/13 - East Side SC Class
My body hurt a lot this morning but I got up anyway and went to the gym. This class was good, but it was just a hard day overall. Not feeling great. Still glad I went though.
Push Press
- 5 x 20 kilos
- 5 x 25 kilos
- 3 x 27 kilos
3 sets 5 reps 29 kilos
WOD
Our WOD today was a shortened Helen
3 rounds of
- 400 m run
- 21 KBS - 16 kilos
- 12 pullups - green band 11 rung
My upper body felt like jello at the end. The pullups were the hardest part. My whole upperbody was already sore. Then tired from push presses. On the last run I was having quite the pep talk with myself to push through and keep going. It was hard, it didn’t feel good, but I got it done.
3/5/13 - East Side SC Class
This mornings class was tiny. It was just Kat, myself, and Billy who normally goes to the early morning class.
We started off bench pressing

- 5 x 20 kilos
- 5 x 30 kilos
- 3 x 35 kilos
3 sets 5 reps 37 kilos
Then we moved on to Cleans. These felt pretty good today. We did a lot of reps
Power Cleans
- 5 x 15 kilos
- 5 x 20 kilos
- 3 x 25 kilos
- 2 x 3 x 27 kilos
- 3 x 29 kilos
- 3 x 2 x 31 kilos
- 2 x 33 kilos
- 2 x 34 kilos
- 1 x 35 kilos
- 3 x 29 kilos

3/4/13 - East Side SC Class
Finally over the February cold and back in the gym, even after a weekend filled with Chasing Discs.
Squat
- 5 x 20 kilos
- 5 x 30 kilos
- 3 x 40 kilos
- 3 x 45 kilos
3 sets 5 reps 50 kilos
I could feel all the muscles of my inner thighs light up as I squatted. I know on the last few reps of every set, I was having trouble keeping my knees wide. Kat kept reminding me, but my muscles were pretty tired from Frisbee. 50kilos is a new PR for reps so I was happy.
OverheadPress
- 5 x 20 kilos
- 3 x 24 kilos
- 3 x 26 kilos
3 sets 5 reps 27 kilos
3/3/13 - Frisbee Scrimmage with Fryz
Sunday afternoon I met up with a much smaller Space Invaders team at Magnuson to scrimmage Fryz, a competitive team of High Schoolers in Washington. They were preparing for their first Spring Tournament next weekend.
It was a gorgeously sunny day, and even though we were light on players this game was a blast. It was a bit breezy but the high energy and spirit of the Fryz kids totally made this game awesome. We threw some zone, and worked our vert stack offense.
I mostly cut again, got a few Ds, caught a few hammers and threw 2 scores. I also had some great marks. I matched up against one of their female handler captains quite a few times, and forced high stall counts. On a few I got her to turn the disc, when she punted it on stall 9.
We ended up winning the game 11- 10 on cap. This game was amazingly fun. Good luck Fryz at your tournament next weekend!
3/2/13 - Winter League Frisbee Double Header
Saturday was the last weekend of Winter League. Space had a double header in the afternoon. The day started out with promising weather, a bit of sun peaking through the cloud cover and a mild breeze. As our first game got under way the wind picked up and the rain began to fall.
During the first game I mostly cut. I had some great grabs, and a few throws that I would want back. But overall I had fun, got some Ds and I think we won the game to 5 at the end.
The second game was against a middle school team. The kids were super cute, and the game was very spirited and fun. On one point I went up in the end zone on D to snag the disc. Missed the catch and ended up macking it to the girl I was defending. It was pretty funny. What was even funnier was the fact that all the middle school kids gave me high fives as we set up for the next point, so close, great attempt! I <3 Ultimate.
At the end of the game Captain Rich came to give out Space MVP Winter League awards. Chris got the male MVP and I got the female one! My reward, an awesome hand knit space invaders hat. So excited!
2/23/13 - Winter Team League Double Header
So after being up till 3am the night before dealing with server issues, hooray for being on call, I got up at 8am to meet up with Space Invaders for a double header.
The day was gorgeous, sunny, clear, low wind. We had a lot of fun playing. I <3 Space Invaders. I had a great game. Threw a backhand break for a score, got a bunch of Ds, and made some awesome grabs.
By the end of the second game I was getting tired, so after the game I went straight home and took the most wonderful nap.
