5/27/12 - Elliptical
Today after brunching, and a lazy morning spattered with brief bouts of software development, I headed over to the pro club to get my sweat on.
When I got there I was dismayed to learn that my Zune and my iPod Touch were out of battery.  Sigh…So I used Pandora on my phone.
I only eeked out 30 minutes today because Pandora was not giving me the jams I needed to get through.  By the way Justin Timberlake’s “What Goes Around Comes Around” is way to long and not inspiring at all when on the Elliptical.

5/26/12 - Yoga
The original plan was to meet up with Morgan and Zach this morning for yoga.  Shortly after waking up though I got a message that Morgan was a bit hung over and Zach was on call for work so neither of them were up for making this class.
I briefly considered not going, but then realized how dumb that line of thought was.  So I Spandexed up, grabbed my yoga towel and headed to Be Luminous.
This class was great, and just what I needed. My body was super tight, especially my inner thighs and back from yesterday’s lift. We flowed, and I sweated as my muscles loosened up! It was a great way to start a long weekend

5/25/12 - Lift, Chest & Back
I’m so glad I went to the gym today.  I was tired after work, and talking myself out of it.  Going home and eating Ice Cream sounded much better than the gym.  But I just sucked it up and went.  You don’t get better at Ultimate, or become a stronger athlete by making excuses.
At the gym I felt good and strong.  This was definitely a hard workout.  I felt so much better afterwards so I rewarded myself with a protein shake, no ice cream here.
Super Set 1
Flat Dumbbell Press (12: 17.5lbs, 10: 20lbs, 8: 25lbs)

5/23/12 - Elliptical 45 minutes
Tonight I hit up the elliptical at Pro Club, and kick the living crap out of it.  I also may or may not have been dancing on the machine especially when certain songs were on.

Time to get back at it.  I was not invited back to participate in tryouts this year.
I kind of expected that.  I’m not at the level of physical fitness that I wanted to be, and knew I needed to be to get a callback.
Its cool though, I’ve learned a lot.  I now know an injury is not the end of the world, and next time will be better prepared to deal with it.  Combine was a great experience I learned a lot, and really that was the overall goal of going.
Most importantly I got to experience the level of play that I aspire to.

5/20/12 - Combine
This morning/afternoon I spent in the company of 60 other women all trying out for Seattle Riot and Seattle Underground.
I was unbelievably freaked out going into today.  My knee injury set me back, I didn’t handle it well, and so I lost some speed and some fitness.  I’m getting it back, but I wasn’t where I really wanted to be.
I threw this morning with Ken to loosen up then headed over to South Park to play.  We started out with warm-ups, then a drill (sprinting and break marks).  My forehand break was really nice.  We then scrimmaged, I got a break from Shannon, then found a teammate in the end-zone for the final score.
We then played mini, I eventually found my stride.  I haven’t played mini in a while but I got into it and scored quite a few goals, made some great catches, and had some pretty throws.  I even sky’d Alex for a D.  My team ended up in the semi finals.  It was great.
After that we had a lunch break, then did a zone scrimmage, I had quite a bit of good fortune popping, was really chilly.  I didn’t have any turn overs in all three scrimmages of the day.  No drops, there was one mis-communication between Surge and I, she threw deep as I cut under.  I wasn’t one of the primary people making plays happen, but I played solidly.
After the zone scrimmage we did a Defense positioning drill, and then the triangle of death throwing drill.  When it was my turn to throw, all of my unders were crisp and well thrown.  My first few deeps were a little shaky, but they got better as I continued on.
Our final scrimmage was also fun.  The whole day was just really fun.  I loved being pushed that hard.  I felt slower than I would have liked, but it was good to get pushed.  I don’t get that kind of challenge in league.
Whatever comes of this, it was a great day, and a great learning experience.  Any day I spend playing Ultimate is a fantastic day in my opinion.

5/18/12 - Fedora Hat Game
Tonight’s game was fun.  We were savage ladies, but it was super relaxed.  I had a couple great plays.  My girl was cutting back out of the lane, and another girl was cutting in.  The disc went up and I was heads up enough to make a bid at it, I only got a tiny piece but enough to get the D!
I also scored the last point of the game.  A long huck went up to Alex, I was ran into the endzone, took to strong steps to the break side, then pivoted out to the force side, getting a few feet of separation.  Alex put up an easy floaty pass to me, and I nabbed it to win!
